Synopsis

When Katie Harrington becomes engaged to Branson Stone she believes her life is right on track for all her dreams to come true.

However, flashes of a life she never lived haunt her—leading her to discover a past that has been purposely erased from her memory in order to protect her from horrible truths.

The look on her fiancé’s face as she retells everything she remembers will forever be etched in her mind. Instead of catching and comforting her, he lets her go.

Retreating to the family’s cottage on the Outer Banks for the summer, Katie’s heart begins to heal. She succumbs to the allure of a dangerously handsome local, Aidan Romero. But as soon as Katie begins to let go and move on with Aidan . . . Branson finds her.

Now Katie is torn between two lives—facing her painful past with Branson, or moving on with Aidan and keeping the secrets safely buried forever.

I was wondering if I would find out more in the beginning about why Katie was put through a mess of the mind. Then as the story line moved through the book, the reader gets the fill ins for the holes that are not explained in the beginning but formed there.

I was on an emotional roller coaster that made it hard for me, the reader, to put the book down. I wanted to know if everything would turn out okay in the end. I wanted Katie to have her happy ending. I thought that she needed one.

By the end of the book, you the reader, will feel emotional attached to Katie and want to save her from the story line that the author has put her through. The characters are very well developed and tug at your heart strings. Then some you, the reader, just want to dunk in that lake behind her on the cover of the book.

The story line runs smoothly through out the book with a roller coaster of ups and downs that keeps the reader planted to their seat for the next chapter or page. The settings are real to picture in the reader’s mind eye.
