Blog Tour ~~~ Cain’s Salvation by Sarah O’Rourke

When Dr. Cain Turner’s life was literally blown
apart in a small province of Afghanistan, it was only the hope and memories of
one woman that propelled him forward. But there were more demons to face.

In the small country hamlet of Paradise,
Tennessee…Faith waits. Surrounded by her loving sisters, Faith McKinnon had
faced her own demons, having thought that the love of her life had deserted
But fate…and a few meddling McKinnon
sisters…conspired to bring the two star-crossed lovers together again.
NOTE: Romantica — this is a romance with erotica
in certain sections!!

Four hours later, Cain Turner was aware that he’d been wrong. War wasn’t hell.

No, hell was right here all around him.

Hell was loving a woman that couldn’t bear to look at you. Hell was being close enough to touch her… to smell her… and being frozen in place, terrified to approach her.

Hell was a device all of his own making.

Following Faith’s fluid, graceful movements as she circulated through the bar, smiling and delivering drinks, he shifted uncomfortably in his chair by the door. His body had reacted predictably to seeing her again. Even in a bar packed with drinkers looking for a good time, his cock had leapt to life at the sight of her.

She was even more gorgeous than the day he left her. Her body was more slender and her face a little more angular, but none of that detracted from her innate beauty. Her toned legs still had those supple muscles he loved to explore while they wrapped around his waist and her tiny waist only accentuated the firm globes of her breasts.

Licking his lips, he fingered his sweating glass of sweet tea as he ogled Faith’s body. Clad in a short pair of denim shorts and a scooped neck pink t-shirt that offered a man a tantalizing glimpse of her cleavage if he cared to look, she made his mouth water. Every now and then, she’d bend over to pick something up from the floor and the curve of her ass would just peek at him from under her shorts.

It was a slow, agonizing punishment, being offered that kind of view but being so paralyzed by fear that he couldn’t have moved if he wanted. He knew she was doing it on purpose, offering him the show of a carefree woman that could flirt and flounce with the best of them. Faith could give the Taliban torture techniques a good run for their money with her methods of retribution.

Love and Loss

cover of Love and Loss

Jo Kelley is not your average college student, but she’s trying to be. Years in foster care have left her cautious. There’s something dark buried in Jo’s past, secrets and an unfathomable evil that are clawing their way to the surface. Tragic Accident Claims Two, Infant Only Survivor
The first witness on the scene claims to have only seen the family’s blue station wagon on the side of the road when he happened upon the accident. The vehicle appeared all beaten up on the driver’s side and its lights remained on so the driver had slowed to see if there was help needed. After investigating the car, one Larry Flinch noticed a small baby clapping its hands, still buckled in the back seat. The father’s body, draped down towards the child in one last attempt to comfort her, the mother laid lifeless yards away. After the tragedy, we contacted Mr. Flinch and asked him what his recollection of the accident was.
“Well, of course I called the police right away but being by myself, I didn’t know what to do with the toddler. After seeing she was unharmed, I stood right outside her window until help arrived. I was scared to move her after what she must have been through. She didn’t seem scared at all considering; such a brave kid.”
Indeed, this sole survivor was found to be unscathed and was immediately taken away by Social Services where they will see if there is a next of kin. The parents, later said to be Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelley, have no family in the area that they have found as of yet but the police are still looking into the matter. No one has come forth in what is being called a “hit and run” but police have evidence that they wish not to discuss at this time.

This reporter was truly heart broken by the sight of the wreckage out on HWY 5 but out of this great loss there is still a life that was spared and it makes you feel that God must really have a plan for this sole survivor.

Love and Loss: The Coven of Secrets (The Coven of Secerts)

This book grabs you by the short hairs and draws you, the reader into this book. A baby that loses her parents on page one! Page one! That is the short hairs. This book does not let go of those short hairs either. You, the reader are attached to this book until the end. There is no putting this book down until you see the end.

The characters are emotional wrecks but you, the reader will love them and all their faults. Joe will pull at your heart strings until they break and then some more. She will make you want to be her mother one minute and the next want to be her friend to join her on her journey through the storyline.

*I got an ARC for a real honest review.*

“Were you not listening? That kind of magic has a price. Because of what we did, your parents are both dead!” Dawn raised from the pavement and gripped my shoulders. “No good can ever come from that kind of magic. There just has to be another way.”
“The only way for us all to be free of Loki is to destroy him. Unless you have another story you’re not telling me with a spell that will vanquish him for good.” I had my hands on my hips and I was bent down in order to look her right in the eyes when a blast of her power hit me. It was like a dry sand storm had just smacked me in the chest and I had to rub my eyes to rehydrate them.
“You listen to me!” Dawn had her finger pointed right at my chest and she was taking quick jabs to my sternum. “I may not be your Mother but I will not see things end for you the way it did for her! If I could protect you on my own, I would take you away from here and hide you till next month comes and goes!” She was now making wild gestures with her hands. “Screw Steve; screw the Coven! I just want to keep you safe…I owe Sunny that much…” her words trailed off as she turned her back on me and started walking towards the woods.
“Hey, where are you going! I’m not a child you know, I can take care of myself!” I yelled at her back side. She turned around so quick the motion was a blur and she put her hands out in front of her. Another dry sand blast hit me square in the chest and I flew back a short distance to land on my butt hard in the grass.
“Jo!” I heard Marty yell from somewhere behind me but I ignored her as I scrambled off the ground. I looked where my aunt had been standing but she was no where to be seen. What the heck had just happened?

Meal Train: For People who Fall Between the Cracks

A great idea

S.K. Nicholls

I may have mentioned this on my blog or in comments before, but I am going to tell you about it again for a very important reason.

When I was a small child, we (siblings and cousins all) spent summers with my grandmother. She was a hard working enterprising woman who worked a farm and had a green thumb. My uncle built her a green house. Aside from her cooking, which a vast collection of county fair ribbons proved was the best around, she could make anything green flourish and grow. She was well known for both.

On Saturday mornings, she would get up before sunrise, go out to the hen house, wring a couple to a few necks, scald off the feathers, wash and prepare the meat, and fry up a half dozen to a dozen chicken dinners, throw on some mashed potatoes and biscuits, a side of green…

I nodded my head and watched as Adam’s hand lingered on the neck of the Ibanez™ before he picked it back up and slipped the strap over his shoulder.

I sat on the edge of the bed as he began to play without an amplifier.

The noise was tinny without the electric part hooked up but that didn’t matter. Adam’s fingers moved effortlessly from fret to fret as he strummed the guitar. His head nodded ever so slightly to the beat and his bare foot tapped the floor as he closed his eyes and a smile formed on his lips.

I stood and placed my hands around his neck, yet he continued to play, nod his head and tap his foot with eyes closed. The only change was on his lips as they crept into the seductive grin.

I leaned into him, letting my hands comb through the hair on the back of his head as my breath washed over his lips.

Still nothing. The guitar continued to hum with his talent.

I let my lips hover over his, then let them wander over the soft skin of his neck and up the stubble of his chin. The beat remained smooth, undisturbed as the strings squealed and he deepened the riff.

I paused as my lips reached his again, lingering at the corner of his mouth where the cold metal of his lip ring teased me just as much as his fingers on the guitar.

I let my mouth run over the metal until it caught in my teeth and I sucked it in.

Finally, his body reacted tensing as he groaned—but his playing didn’t cease, didn’t change. He still resisted, hand strumming a tease over the strings next to the skin of my belly.

His mouth responded to mine as I let the ring and his lip slowly slip away from me. That was it— the guitar spun to his back and he yanked my hips to his own.

“I need you to play me like that guitar,” I gasped as his hand tilted my head and his tongue ran over my trembling neck.

His other hand drifted down my torso.

“Good, because I wasn’t done with my song,” he growled into my ear.

Excerpt #2:

I walked slowly down the hall wanting to prolong the inevitable. Maybe Grant was angry because he had to wait for his file. That could be the only real reason. It couldn’t have anything to do with me. The man didn’t even know me and with any luck, he wouldn’t recognize me from the club either. The chances were slim that he’d realize it was me, so I wasn’t sure why I was even that concerned. It was silly really. I was nobody in the life and times of Grant Morgan.
When I reached the partially open door, I squared my shoulders and took a deep breath before knocking on the door.
“Come in,” was barked out in a deep, rich voice that coated my skin like the finest silk.
I pushed the door open further and timidly stepped into the room. My stomach was a bundle of nerves, and I felt my body sweating in places that were very unladylike.
The room was bright. The wall opposite the door was made up of large windows with dark, wood shelving below it. Different items and pictures graced the shelves along with a scattering of books. On the farthest wall was a wet bar and a doorway to what appeared to be a bathroom. On the opposite wall there was a large, masculine wood desk. His office screamed “man”. There was no denying this was his space. I itched to take in all the personal things in this room, to find out more about the man who occupied it. There was more character here than there was in his whole condo.
Grant was standing behind the desk in a three-piece suit, minus the jacket. A quick glance showed me it was draped over one of the chairs in front of the desk. His hair was perfectly coiffed, showcasing a slight wave and begging for your fingers to run through it. His crisp, light blue dress shirt was accentuated by a navy blue vest and dress slacks. His blue and gold striped tie matched perfectly to the gold buttons on his vest. The suit was clearly tailored and fit him like a glove.
He was utterly fuckable. There was no other way to describe him. Unless you were within a ten foot radius of the man himself, you would never truly know what that statement meant. It had to have been created just to describe him.
“Ms. Ward. It took you long enough to get here. I presume you have the file I need.”
Breaking myself out of my stupor, I rushed to his desk as he rounded it. As I handed the folder to him, our fingers brushed. Instinctively, I tried to pull away from the charge I got from his touch, but his hand engulfed mine, and I found my body swaying closer to him. The folder dropped between us, and papers flew everywhere. I vaguely registered that though, because my breathing was fast and my heart was racing as I looked up into his face. Being in the position to touch Grant Morgan could very well make a nun question her celibacy. His scent was utterly masculine. His cologne was both citrusy and woodsy, and I found myself wanting to sniff him.
I could see something working behind his eyes, but I wasn’t sure what it was. It was a penetrating look, and it scared the crap out of me, so I decided I probably didn’t want to know what it meant.
My face flushed with embarrassment at the situation, and I ducked my head, hoping to hide my riotous emotions. I had no way to explain why he made me feel the way he did. I didn’t even recognize myself when I was around him.
Without any warning, Grant set me away from him and bent down to pick up the fallen papers. I dropped to my hands and knees and started scrambling to help, completely flustered that I was so clumsy.
“I am so, so sorry, Mr. Morgan,” I mumbled as I moved quickly on the floor.
Grant cleared his throat, and I looked over my shoulder to see him now standing and clearly staring at my behind. His eyes were heated and his voice was rough when he said, “Please get up off the floor, Ms. Ward.”
I jumped up as quickly as I could and smoothed my hands down my pants. “Yes of course. I’m truly sorry.”
It was as if I was a child being scolded by a parent or a teacher.
Grant rubbed his thumb slowly back and forth over his bottom lip as he studied me, and I tried not to squirm. Something about him was just so intense, and to be honest, a little scary. He was an enigma to me… Hot, yet cold. Sexy as hell, yet completely intimidating.
“So, we finally meet. I must say, you are more impressive face to face,” he surprised me by saying.
What the hell was that all about? Was he complimenting me? No, it had to have been a sarcastic jab at my less than stellar delivery of his case files.
“Tell me, Ms. Ward. Are you enjoying working for me so far? It’s been what now? A week? Two?”
“A week, Sir,” I croaked out of my parched throat. This just kept getting better and better.
Grant walked over to the wet bar and poured some water into a glass for me, before returning and handing the much needed liquid to me.
“Ah, yes. So, are you enjoying yourself?” He watched closely as I drank the cold water and licked the stray moisture from my lips.
I sat in one of the chairs across from his desk and set my glass on the desk in front of me. How the hell did I answer that? I’d barely done anything for him yet. It wasn’t like he was really challenging me like some of my clients. If anything, it was an easy transition taking him on. Ms. Litchfield gave pretty damn clear and concise instructions on what he needed done. And what did it matter if I enjoyed working for him? Shouldn’t I be concerned with whether or not he was pleased with my work so far?
“Yes, Sir. But the uh… better question would be… um… are you happy with me?” When I said that, his eyes flared and his gaze grew more acute.
“Oh yes. I’m very pleased with you so far. So tell me. Do you frequent the White Rabbit often?”
I just about fell out of my chair when he asked me that. He did recognize me and now I felt like a total ass. How could I have let myself act so loose and inappropriately?
“No, Sir. Not very often. I was visiting with some friends. Were you there the other night?” In an attempt to regain my composure, I chose to play dumb about seeing him there. Maybe he would think it was all a misunderstanding. He was far enough away where I could still pretend I didn’t recognize him. We were in a club, damn it. There were people all over the place, dancing in and out of my line of sight. It was a real possibility.
“Oh, I was there Ms. Ward. And you very well know it.” He sat in his chair behind the desk and leaned back, clearly amused that he backed me into a corner with no choice but to acknowledge my behavior.
“Hmmm… perhaps you do look familiar.”
I sat, shocked when he tipped his head back and laughed. The sound was beautiful. Damn.
“Yes, perhaps I do. So, Ms. Ward…”
“Elizabeth,” I interrupted him and prayed he was going to put me out of my misery and change the subject.
“Elizabeth,” he conceded. “I noticed you were friends with Valentina Leokov. Are you close with her?”
When he mentioned Nik’s wife, Tina, I was surprised. It was as if we were playing twenty questions, and I wasn’t enjoying it. What did he care if we were close? I needed to shut this down.
“I suppose we are. I’m not sure that has anything to do with—” I couldn’t finish my thought before he cut me off.
“I’m just trying to get to know you, Ms. Ward. Elizabeth.” He added my first name after my censured look.
“Whereas I appreciate you wanting to know more about me, that doesn’t really change our professional relationship. As I told Ms. Litchfield, I am prepared to take on any tasks you might need. Laundry, dry cleaning, running errands, planning events, and whatever else you see fit. Now, if you don’t mind, I have a full day and had to rearrange my schedule so that I could deliver your work to you.”
I stood and extended my hand, the picture of professionalism. Grant took my hand and raised it to his mouth. His sensuous, full lips grazing the skin there and causing my whole body to break out in goosebumps.
“I wouldn’t want to keep you, Elizabeth. I look forward to seeing you again. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
Spinning from how quickly he dismissed me, I walked on numb legs down the hall and out to the elevator. That man was confusing as hell.

Blog Tour ~~~ Yes, Master by Margaret Mcheyzer

imageMy uncle abused me.

I was 10 years old when it started.

At 13 he told me I was no longer wanted because I had started to develop.

At 16 I was ready to kill him.

Today, I’m broken.

Today, I only breathe to survive.

My name’s Sergeant Major Ryan Jenkins and today, I’m ready to tell you my story.

“Master would flog me if I did, she won’t be happy when I tell her what happened here.”

Oh, Master.

I startle awake as I leap off the bed and sprawl on the floor.

“Ry!” Mason yells from the other side of the door. I jump up off the floor and swing the bedroom door open.

“You scared the shit out of me, Mason.” I run my hand over my eyes and face trying to wake up. “What do you want, man?” But I’m met with silence. When I look over at Mase, he’s staring at my body. He’s mouth’s open and his eyes are so wide. He rakes his stare down my body, then back up again. He lifts an eyebrow as he ogles me. I look down and notice I’m completely naked. I fell asleep on my bed with just the towel wrapped around me and he scared me with his bashing that now I’m standing before him totally exposed.

He’s not moving away, and neither am I.

“Mason.” I lower my voice as he looks up at me and just stares.

He can see straight through me, totally bare and open, for him to see all my secrets.

“We need to leave in an hour,” Mase says as he takes a step closer to me.

I can feel his heat, and my body instantly reacts to him.

Don’t be a coward Ryan, just reach out and touch him.

His brown eyes turn from a hard brown into a molten chocolate as we stand a mere step apart from each other.

Our breathing is labored and rapid.

Mason reaches forward and brings his hand up to my chest, but before he touches me, his demeanor changes and he retracts it, dropping it beside his body.

“I can’t,” he whispers as he turns away from me and goes into his bedroom.

My head spins as I close my door and stand completely ashamed in my room.

He doesn’t want me.

Why would he?

I’m broken.

Wow! I have NEVER read a book like this one. I am in shock over the content. This author nailed it! I was flipping pages trying to intake it all and wanting to know more. This author has this type of book in an exciting written pace that just takes the reader into this world and don’t let you, the reader, out until the end.

The emotions that ran through my body was emotional to say the least. I cried to find out what Ryan went through and then again when Mason’s past was revealed. I wanted to kill two characters for what I read alone. Then I was happy there was a happy ending for Ryan and Mason. I fell in love with them.

Broken and all.

*I got an ARC for a real honest review.*

I don’t do ‘normal’.

I’ve found that the more I write, the more I like being different to other authors. I write in first person, and I love to challenge a reader.
I take the normal and switch it around.
For me, I really enjoy getting a reaction from a reader. So if I can evoke an emotion (regardless of if it’s the emotion the reader wants) then I figure that I’ve done my job as an author I want to be.
I really quite revel in taking people out of their comfort zones and pushing them to read something different.
My genre of writing is, well quite frankly, where ever my mind goes. I won’t label myself because I don’t like sticking to one genre.
My goal with writing is just to take people away from whatever is going on in their lives, even if it’s only for a split second.
I’m a go with the flow sort of person and don’t really take a course of action to get where I am going. I live in the moment and don’t usually worry about tomorrow because whatever life is due to bring me, I’ll be happy to accept.
I love my family and friends and will help anyway I can if someone needs it. I really don’t like people that are nasty just because they can be, I don’t believe that’s necessary, I mean life’s hard enough as it is!
I hope you enjoy my books, I’ve had a hoot writing them. There’s more to come…..
Til next time.

Her muscles seized under his hot grasp. “Let me go,” she whispered through gritted teeth.

“Let yourself go.”

She met his gaze expecting anger to swirl around his eyes as well, but his face was relaxed—a stark contrast to the tight grip he had on her wrist.

“What do you want?” As soon as she stopped trying to pull away, he loosened her grip.

He turned his hand over so that it rested palm up on the table. “A nice evening out with you.”

“And after that?”

“I like you, Lena. And, I suspect there’s far more to you than you’re willing to accept.”

She folded her arms across her chest, making sure he wouldn’t have the opportunity to grab her again. “I’m sure you say that to all the girls you pick up at sports bars.”

His eyes widened, but he still didn’t move his hand from where it stretched across the table toward her in an invitation. “Now that you mention it, I do.”

Lena’s jaw dropped. It wasn’t that she expected him to deny it, but an outright admission was even more disturbing.

“You’re the first,” he clarified.

“I don’t buy that.”

Eric shrugged, “Believe it or not, I don’t usually pick up girls at bars.”

“Then where do you usually pick them up?”

Eric’s smile widened, and he rubbed his lips together. “Most of the girls I’ve dated I either met through mutual friends or at BDSM clubs.”

Lena’s breath echoed in her ears, and she wondered if she heard him wrong. The roar drowned out any thought to move or respond.

“I didn’t expect it to freak you out that much.”

Book Trailer

The beginning has a slow crawl to it. In some books, this would be the death of the book. Due to the reader getting bored with the writing, but not this one. This book has content that keeps the reader involved into the book and wanting to read more.

The characters creep into your heart and take a hold of it and don’t let go. Eric is like no other male character that I have read. He takes a different approach than someone that is like him, a Dom. He is straight to the point and something else I can’t put my finger on. Most Dom’s that I have read about are quiet and not as open about their own life. Eric is open and willing to answer any question you got.

The storyline is one of many books, but this author has a way to make it different and newer than most. The storyline has a straight line out put, but gets the reader to follow the characters through their travels into the end.

*I got an ARC for a real honest review.*

Unfathomable forces have always contested Genevieve Indiana Falcon, known as Indie. The curse of her cold touch entraps her just as the grief ignited in her past torments her. Yet, her mysterious ability to dream while awake saturates her in the belief that she was not always anguished. There is hope that one day a true peace in her soul can be found.

Foolishly, Indie assumes she has contained her life in an odd balance, and she cherishes the visions she sees of the enigmatic boy that held her in a lost time, but can never reach. She grieves for a life she fears she’ll never possess, and that grief is a weapon she uses against her aunt who stands between her and her inheritance.

Weeks away from her twenty-first birthday, the date where she would assume control over her family legacy, a night terror robs Indie of the balance she was clinging to. Like the dream she had before she lost her family, it predicts a fatal catastrophe on the horizon. The fight between life and death, good and evil, began the moment her thundering heart awoke her.

Everything changed after that dream. The one thing that keeps her curse at bay is stolen, and then the enigmatic boy arrives in the flesh. Face to face with her fiery born-again lover Indie realizes that the only way she can prevent the tragedy before her is to surrender everything she was, is, and could be.

Can she bend the laws of nature and fight the improbability that fire and ice could ever be one? As far as Indie is concerned, there is not a myth, spoken fate, or curse that is stronger than her stubborn desire to have it all … including him.

“Who has you bothered?” I pushed.

“A few. But there is someone that is not thrilled that I’ve kept our friendship a secret.”

I glanced around the bar, noticing Wilder displaying the same disdainful glare as Cadence. Gavin had already decided she was nothing to worry about. He had pulled his laptop to him and was typing at the speed of light.

Skylynn returned their glare before she caught my stare. “You’ll see in…” she held up her hand and then slowly let her fingers count down to zero, then knocked her fist on the bar. At that moment, the chime on the door went off.

Time stopped.

I could not comprehend the warm, dominant energy that flowed through me as my eyes met this flawless being.

In the North Wing, he was never completely corporeal. None of the memories I had been able to unlock were. But now, right now, he was in the flesh. Sebastian Falcon was either standing feet from me or he had been reincarnated looking hotter than he was the first go around on the wheel of life.

His black, long sleeve T-shirt hinted to the perfection that it surely must be hiding. My eyes wanted to travel further down him, but they were pulled back to his intoxicating stare. His eyes were still a deep gray, but in the centers I could see unfathomable orange freckles, which mocked flames. He tilted his head slightly, allowing his somewhat long, dark auburn hair to fall over his high cheekbones. There was agony in his stare. It pulled me in. This. Could. Not. Be. Real.

I could swear his body relaxed all at once as his lips, perfectly shaped lips, echoed a wounded smile.

Our uncalled for stare may have relaxed him, but it had the opposite effect on me. Two beats—no, maybe three or four in one second followed by a thousand more. I had been staring at his image for years, and for some reason he was finally seeing me, too.

Almost immediately, he glanced down at the guards.

He turned to them and said something I could not hear, and as they passed what looked like short words shot back and forth. Skylynn gripped my arm. “If that doesn’t make you feel two beats, there is no hope for you,” she whispered.

I swallowed nervously as my eyes moved back to him. A flaming burn spread through my soul. I almost wanted to cry in relief, but that was foolish. In this life, right now, we were strangers. It didn’t matter that I felt like I had lived side by side with him for the past five years.

Forgetting who you are, your ambitions, your lover is crippling. Remembering, embracing your purpose with a new sense of determination is more than empowering. It’s soul seizing. Charlie Myers is embarking on a life-altering path that will cause the damned to humble in silence…

One night, just a few friends how could it go so wrong? That was the question Charlie was asking herself when she awoke in the ER. Outwardly nothing was wrong with Charlie, she was a vision of perfect health, but Charlie knew something else was wrong, wickedly wrong. That fearful notion became even more gripping when her mind began to parade haunting visions of entrancing emerald green eyes, laced in black, before her. When she felt a hole in her heart, when the music she drowned her fears in began to amplify the ache in her soul, and caused her to crave an embrace she thought she never knew.

Charlie knew then that part of her was stolen. She was missing memories. Those memories were sacred. They held the key to her sanity. They told her that the sinister whispers, and the shadows that came to life before her, were not as ominous as she felt they were. They caused her to forget the one talent that allowed her to face the darkness that haunted her every waking hour. They also masked a much deeper bond, the face of the one that had stolen her heart, long before that tragically blinding night.

Charlie wanted to stay in NY, fight her demons where she found them, and ensure that her true home remained a sanctuary. Fate had a different plan in mind. Against her will, Charlie was sent to Salem to live with her sister. Within that small town Charlie found her memories…and so much more.

Her story begins now.

“What’s going on?” I asked nervously, hitting ‘Pause’ on my phone as I watched him push the seat back so his legs could have more room.

“I told you I’d tell you how to get back,” he said, smiling faintly.

Every part of me was tingling. Yet, I was frozen in place. I had no idea how I was going to focus well enough to drive.

What would I do if I had to fight these shadows in front of him? I was horrified.

“Yeah, but I thought you meant follow you,” I said, trying to take in a breath after I said the words.

“I wanted to ride with you,” he said, pulling his belt on.

As he leaned closer to me to fasten it, I could smell the addictive aroma of his cologne. I knew that scent. My mind was firing off images of him at warp speed. His scent, his eyes, his energy, every ounce of him was magnifying fantasies I could not comprehend in the state I was in.

“Just for the record, you’re only my second passenger. Third, if you count my teacher,” I said, putting the car in drive.

“Duly noted.”

I caught myself staring into his enchanting eyes. His dark lashes framed the most alluring color I’d ever seen. It was like they were intended to be black, but a shade of the most perfect green had shattered the black canvas that they were.

Eyes that had haunted me for days…

He stared back at me with almost the same wonder, then he quirked a slight grin. “That way,” he said, pointing to the left.

Obviously I was alone in my fascination. Surely if we were anything like my minds eye was telling me we were in some forgotten past he would have said something.

Unless. Unless it was a bad past.

The tinge of pain in my heart let that dark thought enter my mind.

I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. I tried to smile through it as I turned the wheel. I crept down the gravel driveway, fighting the glare of the headlights coming from his Hummer. Just before I reached the road, he reached up and moved my rearview mirror, taking the torture of the lights away. He then gently grasped my ear buds and pulled them out. His warm fingertips brushed against my skin, and it took everything I had not to faint. I thought I heard him sigh, just after he took in a deep breath. Those long fingertips of his lingered a little longer, more than likely a second or two, but it felt like hours, then they slid down my neck taking the cords from my ear buds with them.

I angled my eyes at him to see if I had the same effect on him that he clearly had on me.

“You have to be able to see and hear if you’re going to get us home,” he explained, relaxing into his seat. He bit his bottom lip as he bathed me in his smoldering gaze. We said a thousand words at that moment. Words I could not hear, but wanted to.
